Brian Flemming, CM, KC, DCL, is a Canadian international lawyer, writer and public policy advisor. He is a former senior aide to a Canadian prime minister. He is Counsel to McInnes Cooper in Halifax, Nova Scotia. McInnes Cooper is one of the top 20 law firms in Canada and has offices in the four eastern provinces of Canada.
Flemming has been the head of several Canadian crown corporations, panels and agencies. In 2000-1, he chaired the Canada Transportation Act Review Panel, a decennial review of Canada's transport policies. In 2002-5, he was founding CEO and Chair of the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority. He was a founding member of the federal Advisory Council on National Security.
He has been a board member of many public and private corporations, as well as numerous not-for-profits organizations, both in his region and nationally. Since 2004, he has been an Honorary Fellow of the Marine and Environmental Law Institute at Dalhousie University in Halifax. He is a Research Fellow of the Canadian Defence & Foreign Affairs Institute of Calgary, Canada. He is a Member of the Order of Canada.
