In 1986, Dr. Jorge Islas Samperio obtained his physical degree on the Faculty of Sciences and in 1989, the master's engineering degree in the Engineering Faculty, both in the National University of Mexico. In 1995 obtained the Applied Economy Doctor degree by the Pierre Mendès France University in Grenoble, France.
Between 1995 and 1997 he developed as an Associate TC Investigator on the System Coordination of the Engineering Institute in the National University of Mexico. At present, he is an Definitive TC Assigned Investigator on the Energy Planning Coordination) of the Center for Energy Research in the national University of Mexico and commander-in-chief of the Energy Systems Department in the same center.
Dr. Jorge Islas Samperio, carried out 50 international and national publications in arbitrated journals, book chapters, congress reports, special journals, technical reports on topics of technological changes in electrical sector, energy and climatic changes, financing of energy systems and futures energies with renewable sources.
Dr. Jorge Marcial Islas Samperio, has been responsible or coresponsible or projects financed by DGAPA-UNAM, Instituto Mexicano del Petróleo, Secretaría de Energía, Comisión Federal de Electricidad, World Ressources Institut in subjects of energy desregulation, environmental costs in electrical sector, energy and climatic change in México, sustainability of energy projects, and Technological change in the electricity sector.
Dr. Jorge Islas Samperio, is a National Investigator of the National Investigators System and PRIDE level C in the UNAM and member of the National Academy of Enginnering. At the present, he is supervising doctoral, masther's and degree thesis on Technological Change in electricity sector , Cogeneration and Mitigation of Climatic Change on Electrical Sector. Finally, is actually a professor on Planning and Evaluation of Energy Systems, and Energy Economics on the Energy Engineering Posgraduate of the National University.
