Abstract
The article analytically examines the background and current state of play in energy relations between the European Union and Russia. The article argues that at stake are not only questions related to prices, contracts and competition but also, and more significantly, a battle concerning the rules for the road for not only gas markets but also wider energy markets in Europe.
