Abstract
The objective of this article is twofold: first, it examines and explains the objectives of EU energy and waste laws and policies, with emphasis on waste regulation. Second, it focuses on one particular technology: waste gasification and its regulation in EU. The logic of EU waste and energy policy objectives both support the high efficiency waste-to-energy conversion provided through gasification of certain waste streams.
