Call for papers: OGEL special issue on the Atlantic Basin New Energy Geopolitics

Oil, Gas and Energy Law (www.ogel.org) invites submissions for a Special issue on the Atlantic Basin New Energy Geopolitics. The guest editors for this special issue are Edmilson Moutinho dos Santos (University of São Paulo) and Marcelo Romanelli de Oliveira (CEPMLP, University of Dundee). We encourage submission of relevant papers, studies, and brief comments on various aspects of the subject above. Deadline for submission of papers is August 2010.
The topics may cover a wide range of issues relating to energy within the Atlantic basin and its Geopolitical Dimensions which may have impact on the economy and political strategy of the region. Submissions may examine issues involving Energy in Latin America and Africa as well as Atlantic Basin related energy trading (North-North; South-North; and South-South) such as:
- LNG projects;
- regulation of gas and electricity markets;
- agro-energy and bio-fuels;
- petroleum and the opening of new frontiers in countries facing major and unprecedented discoveries;
- mining;
- nuclear energy;
- the impact of the Law of Sea in the natural resource industries;
- the need of energy regulatory and fiscal reforms;
- challenges of deep-sea offshore frontiers;
- project financing;
- comparative analyses of host government agreements;
- bilateral investment treaties;
- new role of major countries in energy supply;
- different approaches to sovereignty over mineral resources.
