Introduction
The European Union is considering a Directive intended to enhance natural gas supply security. The European Commission initiated the Proposed Directive in September 2002.[1] The European Parliament revised the Proposed Directive drastically during its first reading in September 2003.[2] The Council of the European Union was to review the draft and was expected to announce its position in December 2003.
