Introduction
This article will examine the issues around
the decommissioning of oil and gas installations and operations; the legal
regime applicable in Nigeria; how decommissioning obligations are dealt
contractually particularly in joint venture arrangements; and the issues of
decommissioning that arise in the course of a transaction for the divestment
and acquisition of petroleum acreages already at some stage of exploration or
production.
