Sergio Sambri is a partner in the corporate practice of Paul Hastings’ Milan office. His practice encompasses environmental law, property law, public tenders, privatisations, urban planning and construction. His clients include energy companies and public administration and financial institutions, representing them on projects in the energy sectors, in particular advising on the privatisation of energy and utilities companies, obtaining operating and building permits, participating in international bidding competitions, competing for public procurements, the renewable energy sector (including waste-to-energy projects and wind projects), selecting joint venture partners for projects in Italy and around the world, environmental law regulations relating to operating in the energy & utilities sector in Italy, and project financing and issues related to the development of energy projects.
He also advises clients on all aspects of infrastructure projects and project finance, including PPP/PFI financing, refinancing, international bidding procedures, permitting procedures and administrative regulations, property, and construction and engineering issues.
Sergio has published numerous articles for legal journals relating to environmental and energy law and public biddings in Italy. Since 1992 he has been a Member of "Unione Avvocati Europei" (U.A.E.) and the Environmental Commission of U.A.E, with one of its primary objectives the study of issues relating to comparative environmental law. He is also a regular participant at energy and project finance conferences in Italy, and has spoken on a wide range of topics including the evolution of the domestic energy and renewable energy markets.
Sergio read law at the Universitŕ di Milano and qualified as an Italian lawyer in 1994. Prior to joining Paul Hastings in 2005, Sergio was a partner of Norton Rose and before practiced law with Prof. Avv. Giuseppe Minieri and the law firm Studio Legale Vassalli in Milan.
