Reidar Visser

Reidar Visser is a research fellow at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs. He has a background in history and comparative politics from the University of Bergen and a doctorate in Middle Eastern studies from the University of Oxford. His recent work includes the monograph Basra, the Failed Gulf State: Separatism and Nationalism in Southern Iraq (New Brunswick, NJ: Transaction Publishers; Berlin: Lit Verlag) as well as several articles and research papers on the Iraqi transition process and the question of decentralisation in southern Iraq.
