Mr. Tarradellas Espuny acted as the spokesman for Energy of Mr. Andris Piebalgs, the Energy Commissioner (2009). Between 2000 and 2006, he dealt with press relations in the Information & Communication Unit of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Transport and Energy. From 1995 to 2006, he worked for a communication company in Brussels, CIVES Europe, where he was initially the Editor in Chief of Europe Today and El Sol and then became Chief Executive Officer. From 1987 to 1994, he was commercial agent for a petrochemical and construction company in Barcelona.
Ferran Tarradellas holds a Masters degree in Communication from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona) and a Bachelor degree in modern history from the University of Barcelona. He reached the grade of Second Lieutenant in the Spanish army further to his training at the Valladolid Academy of Cavalry. He is fluent in English and French and speaks good German and Italian.
