Dr. Alice Guimaraes-Purokoski

Dr. Alice Guimaraes-Purokoski is Director of the unit for EU-litigation at the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. As a state agent before the European Court of Justice, she has represented Finland in several court cases since 2003 including cases with energy aspects.
She has been nominated as judge at the Supreme Administrative Court of Finland for a fixed period exceeding at the end of August 2010. She has previously worked with energy issues at the Finnish Ministry for Trade and Industry and at the European Commission DG TREN as a national expert.
Ms. Guimaraes-Purokoski trained on the bench in 1996-1997 (Helsinki District Court). Her Ph.D. thesis examined the vertical division of competence in EU-Law and used the development of EC energy policy and regulation of public service obligations as examples.
