Geir Westgaard

Geir Westgaard is a vice president at Statoil and head of the company's EU Affairs Office in Brussels, Belgium. He held a similar government relations position for Statoil in Washington, DC, in the late 1990s and has also been in charge of country risk analysis and social responsibility at Statoil.
Prior to joining the petroleum industry, Mr. Westgaard worked as a Norwegian diplomat. His postings abroad included Moscow, Vilnius and Washington, DC. He has also served as an adviser to the prime minister and foreign minister of Norway.
In 1985 Mr. Westgaard graduated from the University of Oslo with B.A. in Political Science. In 1987 he graduated from Columbia University with Master of International Affairs. In 1997-98 Mr. Westgaard was a Fellow at Harvard University's Weatherhead Center for International Affairs.
