Anastasios Gourgourinis was elected Lecturer in Public International Law at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Faculty of Law in July 2011, specializing in International Economic Law. He currently serves as a Special Legal Advisor for Strategic Investments at the Hellenic Ministry of Development, Competitiveness and Maritime Affairs, and is a Research Fellow at the Academy of Athens. Prior to that he was an Adjunct Lecturer in International Economic Law at the Athens University of Economics and Business, while he has also served as Special Legal Advisor at the Hellenic Ministry of State. He is an advocate with the Athens Bar in Greece.

Anastasios regularly presents papers in academic conferences, and is the author of a number of publications on international dispute settlement, international investment law and WTO law. He holds a LL.B. and a LL.M from the University of Athens, and a LL.M. (awarded with Distinction) from University College London.

He completed his doctoral thesis at University College London in 2010, focusing on the fragmentation of international law, and, more specifically, the normative role of equity and equitable principles in the WTO. His principal research interests lie broadly within international economic law, international investment law and WTO law, particularly from the perspective of international dispute settlement, the theory of sources, State responsibility, and normative fragmentation of international law.
