Nicolai Due-Gundersen

Nicolai Due-Gundersen is a PhD candidate of Political Science at Kingston University, London after four years in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. His work addresses non-democratic political legitimacy of MENA governments and the Arab Spring.
After graduating from the Geneva School of Diplomacy in 2012 with an MA in International Relations, Nicolai worked for several NGOs in Jordan, including as Adviser to the Arab Institute for Security Studies.
Nicolai has lectured at the University of Jordan, the Swiss Embassy in Jordan and at the Islamic Azad University in Dubai.
He has published with Open Democracy, the Small Wars Journal and recently released his first book on private military firms in Iraq, The Privatization of Warfare (Intersentia: Cambridge). He speaks Arabic and is married to a Jordanian.
