Profile

Dr. Umut Turksen is a professor in law at Centre for Financial & Corporate Integrity, Coventry University and an executive of the Commonwealth Legal Education Association responsible for the European region.

Dr. Turksen has provided consultancy and training to selected international businesses and government projects. This includes technical assistance programmes to multinational corporations (e.g. France Telecom and ICT Ltd) and international organisations (e.g. Commonwealth Environmental Investment Forum, EU, CEPOL, NATO), professional development training to lawyers and to the EU funded capacity building project (MUTRAP III) in Vietnam. In addition to his expertise in EU energy law, Dr. Turksen has extensive knowledge of and practice in counter-terrorism laws in Turkey, Australia, the EU and US as well as publications in international trade and economic law, financial crime, arbitration and investment.

He is currently leading an EU - H2020 project, PROTAX (www.protax-project.eu), which aims to advance prosecution methods for corporate tax evasion.
