Johannes Elle was born in Leipzig, Germany. He is a graduated Diploma Engineer in Urban Planning. Since 2006 he has been working for Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit - GIZ - GmbH, starting in the headquarters. From 2008, he has worked for the GIZ-implemented Open Regional Fund for South East Europe - Energy Efficiency at its central office in Sarajevo. Until 2010 he was responsible for conceptualizing and developing the GIZ support towards the Network of Schools for Political Studies in South East Europe on their Initiative on the public-political Dialogue on the Sustainable Use of Energy, targeting the raising of awareness and understanding, as well as the interconnection of political decision makers, in particular Parliamentarians. Since 2011 he has been heading the ORF-EE. Johannes Elle is at the same time the head of the GIZ internal experts' network on sustainable energy issues in the region of East and South East Europe, and the Caucasus.
