Piotr Trzaskowski leads the European Climate Foundation's activities in in the non-EU countries of the Balkans. His main areas of expertise cover risk profiles of energy investments in the transition economies, role of public finance in the energy sector and the geopolitics of gas in the Eastern Europe. European Climate Foundation was established in early 2008 as a major philanthropic initiative to promote climate and energy policies that greatly reduce Europe's greenhouse gas emissions and to help Europe play an international leadership role to mitigate climate change. In order to achieve these goals ECF builds alliances among a wide range of partners in government, business and NGO sector. In the Western Balkans the ECF promotes alignment of national policies with the EU long-term decarbonisation agenda.
Before joining ECF Piotr coordinated climate and energy work of the Eastern European NGO CEE Bankwatch Network, where he developed deep understanding of the energy scene in a number of post-communist countries as well as energy sector lending of the European public banks the EIB and the EBRD. Piotr holds an MA degree in International Relations from the University of Warsaw.
