J. O. Spieler is a student by the University of Stavanger, Norway. His bachelor's thesis, "Plug and abandonment status on the Norwegian continental shelf" written in cooperation with T. Monge Øia, was the topic of three news stories in Norwegian papers during the weeks after the submission. His aim is that their work within P&A can contribute to a greater focus to develop new technologies to be able to cut the costs that companies and nations will face. After finishing his Bachelor's Degree within Petroleum Engineering, he is currently doing a Master's Degree Program in Well Engineering within Petroleum Engineering.
J. O. Spieler has offshore experience from the semi-submersible drilling rig West Alpha for North Atlantic Drilling. He did a summer internship with Seadrill at Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Offshore Co, (DSIC Offshore) in China during the construction phase of two jack-up rigs, West Oberon and West Telesto. Besides his studies, he has worked part-time for GE Oil & Gas in the management team for Subsea Offshore Services.
