Petra Drankier has been working at the Netherlands Institute for the Law of the Sea (NILOS), Utrecht University, from early 2009 to mid-2012. Earlier she was a policy advisor for the Dutch regional government Province of Zeeland. Her research on public international law includes (consultancy) projects on international boundary disputes, the regime of areas beyond national jurisdiction, marine protected areas, marine bioprospecting, marine spatial planning in the EU, and integrated management & impact assessment in the marine Arctic. Later she carried out a research project at the Australian National Centre for Ocean Resources & Security (ANCORS), University of Wollongong, on international environmental regulation of ocean wave energy. As from early 2013 she is working as policy advisor in The Netherlands.
