Dr. Darren McCauley is a Senior Lecturer in Energy Policy at the School of Geography and Geosciences, University of St Andrews, Scotland. He is an active member of the School's environmental economics and policy research group led by Prof. Nick Hanley. His externally sponsored research is focused upon exploring policy-making in nuclear energy, waste-to-energy and oil and gas. A distinctive interdisciplinary approach is undertaken towards energy issues, engaging with both natural and social scientists. He assesses policy change, as well as develops and promotes new conceptual thinking such as energy justice. He is notably the Director of the Arctic Research Centre, which is a joint venture between St. Andrews and Moscow State University. A range of external bodies including most notably the British Academy, ESRC, EPSRC, and the Carnegie Trust have funded the development of his research agenda. This work has inspired a number of honorary positions as Associate Director of the International Energy Justice Council and Fellow of the European Energy Justice Network. Darren's PhD was completed at Queens University Belfast, after which time he has held full time lectureships at Trinity College Dublin, Queens University and Stirling.
