Meri-Katriina Pyhäranta holds a PhD from the UEF Law School (University of Eastern Finland). Her PhD dissertation focused on landowners' legal role in the European shale gas development and was part of a research project called 'Impact of Shale Gas in EU Energy Law and Policy; Regulatory and Institutional Perspective' led by Professor Kim Talus in the UEF Law School. During the academic year 2016-2017 Pyhäranta was doing her research as a Fulbright scholar in the University of Texas at Austin where she also studied the US regulation on shale gas production. Pyhäranta is qualified in practicing law in Finland and worked as an energy lawyer in one of the biggest law firms in Finland before joining Gasgrid.
