Mykola Iakovenko is a PhD researcher at the School of Law of the University of Eastern Finland. Mykola participates in the research group on the Energy law and policy, which is one of the focus areas of theCenter for Climate, Energy and Environmental Law at UEF. The topic of his PhD research is the extension of the EU energy law to the non-EU states participating in the Energy Community. The main research interests: the regulation of the natural gas markets; issues of the natural gas transportation; competition in the natural gas markets; security of supply studies etc. Currently, he also works as a Junior Legal Approximation Fellow for the Directorate for coordination of state policies and strategic planning of the Secretariat of the Government of Ukraine hired by the EU funded Project "Support to the implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement". Prior to the PhD studies, Mykola completed the master's degree in international relations and diplomacy and bachelor's degree in law (LL.B) and history.
