Joaquin ("Jack") is counsel in Freshfields' International Arbitration Group International Arbitration Group, based in Tokyo. Joaquin is an experienced advocate who represents clients in complex international disputes, with wide experience in both investor-State and commercial disputes both in international arbitration and U.S. federal courts.
Joaquin has experience representing clients based in, or facing disputes in, the United States, South America, Europe, Africa and Asia. In addition to several States, he has assisted clients in a range of businesses, from extractive industries, including mineral resources and oil and gas exploration and production; to global financial services and investment firms; to cross-border telecommunications and technology companies.
Joaquin received his legal education at Fordham University School of Law, where he was on the Fordham Law Review and was captain of the Moot Court Board. He is admitted to practice in New York and is a member of the bar of the Supreme Court of the United States. Joaquin also is registered as a Gaikokuho Jimu Bengoshi in Japan, is a registered foreign lawyer in Singapore, and has been granted rights to appear before the Singapore International Commercial Court. Prior to joining Freshfields' Tokyo office, Joaquin worked for a leading U.S. firm in both New York and London.
