Dr. Daniel Benrath is a research associate at the Institute for Mining and Energy Law (IBE), Ruhr-Universität Bochum with expertise especially in EU law, energy law and theory of law.

The IBE was founded more than 30 years ago and is since then a sought-after contact for legal research, analysis and consulting in the areas of mining and energy law. It covers and connects different aspects of these legal areas in research and teaching, including administrative and constitutional law, corporate, commercial and competition law, as well as public international law and EU law. As a central university institution outside of the faculty structure it promotes interdisciplinary research and adds legal expertise to a number of cooperative research projects. The Ruhr Area is an important center for the energy business and an ideal location for the knowledge transfer between academia and business.
