Mr. Kinnear founded GPD Systems, a Houston-based intellectual property and consulting company committed to solving commercial challenges by designing and developing innovative commodity futures, physical-forward and swap contracts. His career in oil and gas includes trading and hedging positions at leading international energy merchants Phibro, Sempra and Hetco, as well as banks RBS and JPMorgan. Kirk also served as VP Commodity Research and Hedging at Continental Resources, recognized as Energy Company of the Year at S&P Platts 2013 Global Energy Awards.

He is the inventor of US Patent No. 7676406, which enables exchanges to launch physical delivery futures and options contracts for commodities such as LNG which load on large ocean-going vessels. He received his MBA from Rockhurst University and BA in Economics and Business Administration from Wartburg College, where he currently serves on the Board of Regents and chairs the subcommittee which oversees its endowment.
