Dr. Romain Mauger

Dr Romain Mauger is head of the Legal Research Unit at the Iberian Centre for Research in Energy Storage, Cáceres, Spain since 2023. After a Bachelor of Law at the Catholic University of Lyon (awarded in 2009) and a Master's degree in Environmental Law and Management at the University of Montpellier, France (obtained in 2011), he worked for more than three years as a wind farm developer and legal advisor at a subsidiary of Engie, in Montpellier, France. He completed his PhD in Law in 2017, earned from the University of Montpellier. From 2017 to 2023, he was postdoctoral researcher and then Assistant Professor at the Groningen Centre of Energy Law and Sustainability (GCELS), University of Groningen, Netherlands.
Dr Mauger's research interests include Energy Law with a focus on the Energy transition, justice in the energy system (Climate & Energy justice, Just Transition) and the theory of degrowth."
