Dr. Romain Mauger
Profile
Dr Romain Mauger is a post-doctoral fellow at the Groningen Centre of Energy Law and Sustainability - University of Groningen since August 2017. After a Bachelor of Law at the Catholic University of Lyon (awarded in 2009) and a Master's degree in Environmental Law and Management at the University of Montpellier, France (obtained in 2011), he worked for more than three years as a wind farm developer and legal advisor at a subsidiary of Engie, in Montpellier, France. He completed his PhD in Law in 2017, earned from the University of Montpellier. The focus of his doctoral research was on the energy transition legal framework in France.
Currently, Dr Mauger is involved in an H2020 project entitled SMILE - SMart IsLand Energy systems, in order to assess the existing legal framework in place in the EU and in some of its Member-States regarding smart-grids (encompassing electricity storage, electricity/heat combination, microgrids...) and to propose improvements.
Dr Mauger's research interests include Energy & Environmental Law, the Energy transition, its institutions, tools and challenges as well as justice issues (Climate & Energy justice, Just Transition).
