Professor A. Chidi Ibe
Profile
Prof A. Chidi Ibe graduated in Geology in 1974 from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he was a German Academic Exchange Scholar. He joined the Petroleum Engineering Department of Shell-BP Development Nigeria Co. Ltd and trained and worked as a well site Petroleum Engineer and Reservoir/Production Geologist. He was admitted to the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) of AIME in December 1977. He proceeded to the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College of Science and Technology, London, United Kingdom from which he earned a Ph.D and DIC in 1980. He has worked at various times as a Technocrat / Diplomat in UNEP, UNESCO as well as UNIDO from where he retired in 2008 as a Regional Director (GCLME) and Executive Director, Interim Guinea Current Commission (IGCC). In 2011 the National Universities Commission (NUC) appointed him a Distinguished Scholar in Diaspora. A retired University Teacher, he is still a Visiting Professor to a number of Universities and an Independent Expert (Energy, Environment and Climate Change). He is a Fellow of the Academy of Science.
