Profile
Firm Profile The Law Union serves a substantial clientele in the oil and gas, power and mining sectors in Nigeria. Our partners have experience of supporting major oil and gas exploration and production companies in negotiating production sharing contracts (PSCs), processing applications for leases and licences, drafting proposed legislation, financing and development of major oil and gas projects and other matters relating to their business in Nigeria.
We have advised one of the world's largest and most efficient electricity companies which is working very actively to become a major player in the Nigerian power market. One of our most important matters in the recent past was our work as counsel to the NNPC in the due diligence phase of the aborted NGC privatisation. This unique experience and the insights gained therefrom remain un-paralleled by any other law firm in Nigeria today.
We have also advised on the construction of a natural gas processing plant and the development of a regional gas pipeline project.
In the mining area, one of our partners was involved in the drafting of new legislation for mining in Nigeria.
In the area of environmental law, we have provided litigation support to a major international oil company, which suffered an oil spill from its operations offshore Nigeria and conducted verification and assessment exercise in the Niger-Delta. Furthermore, we have been engaged to advise the organised upstream and downstream oil sectors on the implications of a recent comprehensive draft bill on the environment.
