Oliva Sarahi Angeles Cornejo received a B. A., with major in economics, from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (U.N.A.M.). She is a PhD candidate in Economic Research at the Universidad Complutense, Madrid. She has taken postgraduate and professional development courses in the Environment, Energy Policy, and Energy Economics at the Institute of Energy Economics affiliated to the Bariloche Foundation, Argentina . For several years she has held a teaching appointment at the FCPyS-UNAM teaching Political Economy. Currently she is a fulltime researcher with the Institute of Economic Studies (I.I.Ec.) of the UNAM. Her main research area is energy-related economics. She has a strong interest in areas such as hydrocarbons and electricity, the environment and energy issues, and alternative sources of energy. She is author of more than 40 published papers in journals specialized in economic issues. She is also the author of the book Intervención del Estado en la Industria Petrolera (Porrúa, México 2001) and coauthor of several books about oil that include La Nueva era del Petróleo (UNAM-Acatlán, México, 1995).
