Dr. Nandakumar Janardhanan is Energy Policy Specialist with the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), a leading environmental think tank in Japan involved in Policy Research. He has been working on policy issues related to Energy and Climate, Energy Security of Developing countries, Climate Change policy, and Nuclear Energy.

Nandakumar was Associate Project Manager - Energy with GlobalData, a UK based energy industry Research Company, where he worked as 'Senior Energy Analyst' earlier. He also worked as researcher in the energy division of Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (under the Ministry of Defence, India), New Delhi and as 'Fellow' at the Japan Institute of International Affairs, (under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs- Tokyo) Japan.

He has undergone Nuclear Energy Management training conducted by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics, Trieste, Italy. He has a doctorate in China's Energy Security Strategy, a post graduate degree in International Relations, and Advanced Diploma in Chinese Language. Nandakumar has been guest lecturer for Nuclear Energy Management Trainings Conducted by IAEA at Italy and Japan. He is also a member of the Indian Member Committee of 'World Energy Council'.
