Mr. Muhammad Arif holds degrees of MBA from the University of Strathclyde, Scotland, UK, LLM in Petroleum Law and Policy from the Centre for Energy, Petroleum & Mineral Law & Policy (CEPMLP), University of Dundee, Scotland, UK, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Petroleum Economics from the University of Oxford, England, UK. He is enrolled as an Advocate by the Punjab Bar Council, Pakistan. He is also an active member of the Petroleum Policy and Rules Committee of the Pakistan Petroleum Exploration and Production Companies Association (PPEPCA), and member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators, USA.
Mr. Arif has more than thirty years of experience on the commercial and legal side of the upstream exploration and production business and has a keen interest in policy, regulation and gas market restructuring. He has published several articles covering Pakistan's petroleum policies and fiscal systems. He is also main author of Book "Energy Law in Pakistan" published by Wolters Kluwer, Netherlands, and contributed a chapter on Pakistan in book titled "Upstream Law and Regulation" published by Globe Law and Business, UK. He has been a visiting Professor of the International Islamic University, Islamabad teaching Petroleum Laws of Pakistan. Mr. Arif is also President, Energy Lawyers Association of Pakistan.
Mr. Arif is currently Managing Partner of a boutique Energy Law and Consultancy firm; Arif and Associates predominantly advising the Government and private investors in Pakistan upstream and downstream segments especially LNG on licensing, regulatory and contractual matters.
