p>As lawyers, we perhaps have an unfairly negative reputation for not liking numbers much. We are more comfortable with words. However, the effective management of a legal service depends on efficient planning and budgeting, and on continuous cost control. This article will assess various aspects of 'dealing with numbers', including the structuring and management of expenditure on external legal advice.
