According to the World Energy Outlook (WEO) 2002 Reference scenario which takes into account government policies and measures on climate change and energy security that had been adopted by mid-2002, CO2 emissions will increase by 1.8 per cent per year from 2000 to 2030. From 12,369 Mt of CO2 equivalent in 2000, emissions will reach 16,397 Mt in 2030 for OECD countries - an average increase of 0.9 per cent per year. The power generation sector will contribute to almost half the increase in global emissions between 2000 and 2030 and will remain the single biggest CO2-emitting sector in 2030. ...
