Comparison of the Economics of Deepwater Exploration and Development in India and other countries

Abstract
This paper gives the results of analyses of the economics of developing deepwater crude oil discoveries in India under the New Exploration Licencing Policy ("NELP") compared to the economics of deepwater oil development elsewhere in the world. In particular, it examines the effect of the fiscal terms for such activities and how these terms affect the decision to invest. The paper compares the economics of typical Indian deepwater NELP terms with those of typical deepwater terms in Brazil, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria and Vietnam. It concludes that, ...
