Once a dispute reaches such proportions that it eclipses the project itself and the reasons why the dispute arose in the first place, it becomes difficult to resolve it quickly, amicably and cost effectively. The more that one can keep the dispute attached to the project itself, the better. This is not to say that there is no way of avoiding a dispute in the first place.
