Abstract
The Nigerian government has presently embarked on full deregulation of the downstream sector of the oil and gas industry. However, at issue is the stiff resistance which the agenda has encountered from interest groups. This resistance has found expression in the form of sustained but systematic industrial action involving professionals from the public and private sectors, artisans, traders and consumers of all classes.
