Summary
After having passed successfully the scrutiny of the Constitutional Council, French law N°2005-781 setting the trends of the energy policy was enacted on 13 July 2005. Its main aim is to establish a national strategy for energy which rests on a public service of energy in view to guarantee the strategic independence of the nation and to favour its economic competitiveness. One of its goals is to satisfy, in 2010, 10% of the French needs for energy deriving from renewable resources and to produce 21% of the consumption of electricity.
