Introduction
Energy is fundamental to the economic development of growing societies in the developed and developing world. The International Energy Agency projects that the energy demand will increase by almost 70 percent over the next 30 years. As per projections, coal will contribute 12000TWh to the world electricity balance by 2030 and gas 10000TWh, whereas, in 2000, these were 6000 and 3000 respectively.
