Brussels, 9 December 2005: Pakistan has become an official observer state to the Energy Charter Conference, an inter-governmental organisation promoting energy cooperation among its 51 member states from across Europe and Asia. Pakistan's application to become a signatory to the 1991 Energy Charter Declaration, and thereby to become an observer to the Energy Charter, was unanimously approved at the 16th meeting of the Energy Charter Conference on 9 December 2005, and the Declaration was signed by the Ambassador of Pakistan to Belgium, Luxemburg and the European Union, H.E.
