Introduction
Italy relies heavily on natural gas for power generation. It has been foreseen that in 2010 60% of the power plants will burn gas against an average of 25% for the rest of Europe. In the last four years the Italian gross natural consumption increased by 14% while the natural gas consumption for electricity generation increased by 23%.
