Introduction
It's clean and green. It's the answer to all of our energy security worries. It's safe. Really. Not a lot of people died. Well, fewer than in the coal mines. Or in road traffic accidents.
And as a public relations campaign it has been brilliant. Not since British Petroleum re-named itself bp (in the lower case) and adopted a corporate logo fit for the most eco-friendly margarine carton, has an energy industry transformed itself from being perceived as a despoiler of the planet to presenting itself as its ultimate saviour.
