Introduction
This brief exposition talks about the path that we in Venezuela have had to tread in recent
years to re-establish full sovereignty over the management of our petroleum resources, a tough
process which, under the leadership of President Chávez, has required the mobilization of
all our people in defense of our main resource, in an uncompromising confrontation with
transnational interests and their domestic political agents.
