Abstract
The Niger Delta region, Nigeria's oil and gas producing area, is almost becoming ungovernable. Hostage-taking of foreign oil workers, sabotage of oil pipelines and other petroleum production facilities, theft of petroleum products and other vices have become the order of the day in the region.
