Introduction
Western Europe is becoming increasingly reliant on ever more concentrated and foreign sources of hydrocarbons. Moves by Western Europe to diversify the sources of its fuel supply, particularly to diversify away from its reliance upon Middle East oil, are resulting in increasing reliance on imported Russian natural gas and greater international interdependence between Russia and Western Europe.
