Introduction
A pipeline that links the oil fields of west Kazakhstan to China's Xinjiang Province has recently completed the symbolic step of pumping crude oil its entire length. The pipeline represents a huge collaboration between China and Kazakhstan. The significance of this dimension will not be lost on Russia, which could potentially envy the revenues Kazakhstan is set to earn from the project.
