The New Environmental Code. A Debated Piece of Legislation

Introduction
p>On 3 April 2006, the President of the Italian Republic approved the new version of the Environmental Code Bill submitted at the end of March by the Government. The Environmental Code, which was adopted with Legislative Decree n. 152/2006, is divided into 6 parts covering the following matters: general principles; environmental impact assessment and IPPC; protection of lands and of water sources; waste and clean-up; protection of air and reduction of polluting emissions; environmental damage. The New Environmental Code was one of the last acts approved by the Berlusconi Government.
