Nuclear Power in the Baltic Region: Key Aspects

Introduction
In line with the National Energy Strategy of the Republic of Lithuania, on 28 June 2007 the Seimas (Parliament) of the Republic of Lithuania passed the Law on the Nuclear Power Plant. The law forms legal grounds for construction of a new nuclear power plant in Lithuania and tackles the issue of obvious future lack of electricity generation capacities after the presently operated Ignalina nuclear power plant is decommissioned.
