Introduction
Energy is at last coming to the forefront of concerns in India. External causes are rising prices of crude oil and gas and the near collapse of the government fighting for the nuclear agreement with the USA. The chief internal reason is the growing power shortage, with rural India, small towns and the poor suffering the most. India's security is endangered by its energy shortages.
