Abstract
A country's fiscal system is considered one of the most crucial parameters used by foreign oil companies in assessing competitiveness of exploration investment opportunities available in their portfolio. The purpose of this report is to review and compare the characteristics of the Iranian buy-back licensing agreement in the context of contractual Production Sharing system. The outcome from the analysis will be used in establishing the attractiveness of the buy-back contracts in encouraging investment in the energy sector of Iran.
