Abstract
Kazakhstan has the Caspian's largest recoverable crude oil reserves, and its soaring production now accounts for more than half of the Caspian region's approximately 2.8 million barrels per day (bpd) production. Years of foreign investment in the country's oil and natural gas sectors finally enabled the landlocked Central Asian state to begin to realize its enormous production potential.
